Hallucinating summer…adjust your tongue box…

The kids feel it.

I feel it. That madness that it is time to wear shorts and swimsuits and lay in the sun or run through the sprinkler. The plants are starting to blast out of their earthly gates and the weather is thinking about cooperating.

In the weekly classroom newsletter – one of the teachers made note that “we need to keep the children focused. It is not summer yet and a few more weeks of school are still ahead.”

My children told me that they are done with school now and that it is time for fun.

I could not agree more.

I have been trying to decide a few things. I am at a crossroads career wise and the “jumping off point” is at hand. A mere three weeks away from this very day and I will have started down a new path. The road has ended and there are three new paths opening up. Which to take…which to take. I haven’t got a clue. I am sure though it was Miss Scarlett in the library with the candlestick.

Have a great weekend!

Movie night this weekend is showcasing Robinson Crusoe on Mars.

We were thinking about Barbarella but the kids are to young. We did watch the evil children doll attack on you tube though…that terrified me at the drive in when I was a child, watching the movie from the back of the station wagon at the Drive in.

Simply not logical – Star Trek Spoilers!!!

Space Shuttle is off and it is throttle up.
I have been very busy, this is the busy season for me.
Hope you had a wonderful Mothers day. I’ll need to do some catching up on the blogoshere as to what has been happening with my muses.
Saw Star Trek yesterday. A definate treat. If you have not seen it please do not read on….
What the …. ???????
Blow up Vulcan???? Are you mad you crazy Klingon loven writers????? I mean really what the heck????
Great movie but really….what? I’m sorry….No…..Not logical.
All ends in music and merry skipping along. See you next movie.
WHAT???????? Are you all INSANE?
Hey lets just blow up Vulcan. We dont need that planet in the mythology, the Vulcans served their purpose in moving the story along.

I need a few minutes in a room with those writers and a lipau mu’yor. I did not blow up Romulus why on earth would the writers, producers and the craft service people (obviously who serve krada leg and Rokeg blood pie no doubt next to the twinkies) make me watch then blow up Vulcan. Thanks alot Nero.
You all better hope that Bad Spock doesn’t find out what you have done. Oh I am so not happy about this.

Movie of the Day “300”

In the lovely Summer I love to work to the sound of my children laughing and playing and the birds singing, soft rain on the roof and the wind moving through the trees (no really). In the Winter though I am trapped in the house ala Cabin Fever and my kids are at school so I like to listen to Movies as background noise. I used to listen to a lot of NPR and music – various styles of rock, new age and classical.

But now it is movies, all kinds what ever the day’s work inspires. I am working on some Goddess projects – so it was either chick flicks or 300. I love the movie 300 It has a painterly quality and the movie simply rocks. If I were a dude I would workout everyday and learn me some sword fighting. I love the elegant choreography of the fight scenes and the acting and direction are rich and poetic. It is an epic movie and romantic also.

Have you seen it? This is SPARTA.

Of course though in my family such reverence and seriousness only leads to sillyness. My darling teen shared this:

Watching old movies.

So yesterday we waited for the Heat guy (who rocked) and watched the original “The day the earth stood still” and in this scene I could not help but laugh at the doctors talking about health and then lighting up a cig. – so common at the time, but looks so hilarious now.

Today I am working in the basement and watching the original BLOB on VHS. It is a very relaxing background movie.

**Edit note** Just as we were getting ready to go we noticed the furnace did not seem to be working. Hubby checked the furnace , yep not on – hit the resent button on the old unit and gobs of BLACK foul smelling smoke filled our basement. Yuck! Now movie is off – heater answering service called and now I found out that we are in for some really Crappe weather , which is just so bizzare considering post from last night and the fact that all morning I was looking up survival cold weather proceedures for the possibility of loosing electricity in winter and all the Ice Storms blanketing the North causing wide spread outages. We have that here in Wisconsin too but I am not looking forward to it. We are breaking out the Sherpa Gear anyway for our Urban adventure. We did not notice the breakdown of the Furnace till it hit about 50 in the house- new cold weather conservation program and all that bit of bother. **

Calgary Harold Had a great article on Unicefs report on the state of Children in Canada, “Children are first and foremost their family’s concern, not the state’s.” quote from the article which walks the fence so delicately giving the double speak approval of Governments responsibility with the parents as the ultimate scapegoat. We face many of the same problems here in the states and here in Wisconsin the rash of accidental child deaths due to being left in childcare Vans is unacceptable. I would like to see in our lifetime a world wide movement towards protecting our futures greatest resource. The Children. I am a complete fascist and believe in a totalitarian state where the Mother State oversees the welfare of all her citizens. I think this can be done easily by using Robots.
Husband is taking me to see The Day the Earth Stood Still. I am getting ready for the coming salvation.

From what I understand these Aliens with the bug eyes are the semi-good guys, the Reptillian ones are the ones that capture people and breed them to eat. Then there are greys who know one knows yet what they are. Here is the the thing though. A recent mass sighting of “Dragon creatures” all over the world, underground. Even here where yesterday morning as we were going out on errands there was a horriable smell that was coming from underground Sewer gases – the explanation only the affected area was huge – crossing counties. I believe in Dragons, and aliens and things we can not see. It might seem silly to some, I am sure electricity and microbs were considered to be a lunatics imaginings at one time too. Just because you dont see something does not mean its not there. Have a lovely week.

Twilight time…

We played hooky – teenage daughter and I yesterday to see Twilight at the first showing in the morning, neither of us willing or wanting to brave the midnight showing. It was pretty good. Sweet. Very sweet. It was refreshing to see a movie with no cursing or gratuitous sex for sexs sake. There was plenty of romance and tension and adventure and lovely scenery. Bella was a little stiff in my mind but I am sure will get better. Loved the Cullens, loved loved loved Victoria. James – stiff and a bit hokey. Edward was perfect though in the beginning I found him a little to much with the intense acting (like he was smelling something bad the Actors Studio used to call it). I thought it was just perfect for what it was. A lovely teen movie that moms can go with their daughters and be comfortable and relaxed and talk about how Edward was the perfect boyfriend because he puts Bella’s feelings first.
Yep. It was a bit of allright. Its nice to be able to go to a movie that has some class and realizes that not everyone has a super obsession with crazy bad language and that people do not have to be naked to show the relationship. (Lord of the Rings). I always thought it was pretty poor writing actually to include sex scenes. Filler for stupid people who cant write dialogue or whose protagonist has the witt of a rock. True Blood is an exception but notice how the sex scenes are dwindeling now that they have “captured” their audience. It is the same with almost every cable series – except Californication and that title and its sexaddicted star pretty much says it all. That show just bothers me – so back to Twilight. Daughter loved it. Loved Edward since he was Cedric in Harry Potter. There is a great debate now between us. She much prefers the Twilight series, I much prefer Harry Potter. No contest in my mind. The tree climbing scenes just do not suspend my disbelief. And cool as Victoria is she is no Voldemort. Come on like a bunch of hunters would not know a human was right there not three feet from them -its underworld and the train all over. No way.

There is just so much more acting in HP. Both of these movies though are a lesson in family entertainment and where we should really be putting our Movie Money.
When I worked for Universal Lew Wasserman said to Casey Silver right in front of me about casting a certain actress “Well…would you want to fuck her?” I was stunned. Stunned with that attitude till Michelle (my other boss) whispered in my ear “they say that towards the men too sometimes”. Still.
I remembered thinking. I would prefer they were really good actors and cast for that.

Well the Twilight gang is sweet and there is great potential there. The teenage girls are just Titanic-ing all over again. Good for Edward he will be a star. Mabey in the future some President of the Studio will say “Would you want to have him/her as your soul mate forever?”.

Here is a great Twilight Character Guide
