Ayn Rand and Anthem vs Animal Farm – George Orwell.

This week after Sunday Morning
I stayed tuned in to watchFace the Nation
and a well written rant or two by Bob Schieffer and found myself just mesmerized by his witty and sardonic truth saying about the new (old) Ayn Rand philosophies running rampant (allegedly) in the hearts and minds of many in Politics today. Where it can be said that I do not dislike Obama, though to me the Reps and the Dems are the same pary with different ties…I have not really been a fan of Rand as her feelings that the poor are nothing but parasites makes my skin crawl. I was always taught that we are only as good as our weakest link, but that does not mean we pitch the weak in the trash heap, cut their heating oil or deny them birth control. Balancing anything on the backs of children or the elderly or even people who just are having a hard time of it makes about as much sense as giving people who already have more money than they know what to do with more money. If you are making money off of people, if you are reaping from the masses then you should give back to said masses. Carpetbaggers, Flim Flam men, Snake oil salesmen these are the sorts that get rich selling manure and yet refuse to help plant seeds for the future. The Earth, our world, our people and all of nature is just a commodity at their going out of business sale.

Yes I believe we should have some balance, we can start with the oil companies and their record profits. They remind me a bit of giant Pig mutants sitting on their mud thrones and complaining about the people that give them all the slop they are so happily wallowing in.

Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself… All men are enemies. All animals are comrades.” – ‘Old Major,’ Animal Farm

Still not sure why all my Youtube linkage died, dies or just is not showing anymore but I left it hoping I will figure it out. Till then…
mircrosoft bastards.

Mr. Splashy Pants, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and wtf are we doing to our world?

First let me just say it is not just Japan, Iceland and Norway. The USA has some nasty business going on too and if you have time and the inclination, write a letter a poem, a blog post, paint a painting, make a quilt, a cake or just a ruckuss. This cannot happen on our watch. We cannot let whales be hunted in great numbers again. http://www.opposingviews.com/articles/news-secret-us-plan-to-expand-whaling-is-revealed

I just want to also point out that said nations are suffering some nasty times. Coincidence? I think not. Notice the first part is “Coin”. I am thinking Nature is starting to pull the plug there pirates. Lets help her along shall we. Give voice to end this disgusting symptom of corruption, greed and evil.

It is good to see Green Peace alive and well and thriving. I am in full support of them getting better tech than the whalers and the creepy oil tankers need to be done as well. Where are all the solar powered ships and the submarines? I would like to see our Navy become involved in the protection of the Oceans and her creatures.

“Whaling is the illegal practice of whale hunting for commercial purposes. The practice has been prevalent since the *16th century and was condemned and declared illegal after five of the thirteen big whales were found to be endangered. In spite of this ban, Japanese ships are reported to have killed five whales in the Southern ocean.
The incidence has occurred even as Australian foreign minister Stephen Smith discussed the issue of whaling with his Japanese counterpart, Masahiko Komura in a meeting held between the two. During the meeting Mr. Smith is said to have strongly opposed Japanese whaling programs and Mr. Komura seemed to support him in his talks. According to a spokesman,  During the meeting the two countries have agreed to disagree on this issue. This whaling incident took place when Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd ships had to inevitably return to refuel their vessels in Australia. Taking advantage of the situation five whales in the Southern Ocean were killed. The executive director of Sea Shepherd Kim McCoy who was on board the Steve Irwin ship describes the incidence as ‘incredibly frustrating’.

* My research shows that families in Japan have historically hunted whales even before the 13th century – and much like the Native Americans in Alaska (Inuit) it was a village tradition that was season specific and highly ritualized , they did not factory farm the whales in huge killing machines, they were matched with whales spear and spout. The rights of indiginious peoples to practice their religious connections to the land are not being discussed this posting – it is the large scale factory illegal farming that I am protesting. If the tools evolve then there needs to be an understanding that the rules have changed. Nature will not tolerate the strip mining for long and will eventually step in and give some penalties.

I have never ceased to be amazed at the avarice of whale hunters..And that whole “research” sign on the hunter ship is just sick. The Japanese government allowing/claiming research on whales only to kill them, slice them up on the sly and sell their meat is beyond reasonable. When they have signed treaties to end the hunting of whales – which are intelligent ancient mammals – they need to stick to their word.

Very bad Karma.

Obviously the Japanese, Icelandic, USA and Norwegian, (and other) Ministers are corrupt and need to watch Star Trek the Voyage Home about a million times. Like the world does not have enough corruption.

An alternative use for these hunter ships could be deep ocean research with robots – technology and power used for good not evil.  They could lease their boats to (non-evil) scientific teams and explore the ocean and develop even better GPS – Aqua robotic sensor environments for the purpose of underwater houses and agro deep sea farming – large kelp beds. Huge money in this. Much more than tuna or whales – I am proposing the use of (non-evil) technology and the great fortunes to be made on the development and capture of patents and product. How’s that boys? Swimming in cash and not killing anything!  Finding a Green and non-invasive way to build in the deep oceans will make whatever government(s) pioneering this tech, wealthy beyond reason – not even going to mention the ancillary Space research you could get in on with such technologies or the cool t-shirts you could sell made out of organic kelp. So let’s leave the fish and the whales alone and evolve. Take it to the next step Boys and all the Ships at sea. Looks like it is time for a new Moby Dick movie, mabey Old School Japanes style with a modern GreenPeace twist.

Or…..if you like…if you insist…

We could go all GMO – human DNA mixed with killer whales and even the battle out a bit.

Science rules – killers of whales drool.

I grew up watching the amazing Jacques-Yves Cousteau and our Under Sea World. We need these programs much more than reality TV and tmz. We need to realize again what is important.

leviathan_final and it is not killing whales.

Intelligent design and the Fur will Fly….

In my Inbox – adrabbit

When PETA and caring members helped convince Donna Karan to permanently remove fur from her collection, thousands of rabbits were saved from being confined in tiny cages and stripped of their skin—sometimes while still alive.

With your help, we can expand the fight against fur and save many more animals’ lives. Please support PETA’s efforts to stop this slaughter.

A recent investigation of rabbit fur farms in China and France revealed that rabbits spend their entire miserable lives in tiny wire cages in their own waste. These gentle animals never get to run, jump, dig, or play. Their slaughter is grotesquely cruel: The rabbits kick and scream before the skin is ripped off their bodies to be sold to some of the world’s top designers and retailers.

For more than a year, PETA pressured Donna Karan to switch from fur to fashionable materials that don’t harm any animals. We finally achieved a breakthrough just days after we launched a new parody Web site targeting Karan and after getting fashion icon and Project Runway star Tim Gunn to send her (and designer Giorgio Armani) an exposé narrating the gruesome undercover fur-farm video footage. It paid off! Now Karan has announced that her fall 2009 lines will be fur-free and that she has “no plans” to use fur in the future.

Major victories for animals couldn’t happen without caring supporters like you. Fighting the fur industry takes real resources. And by donating generously to PETA today, you can make sure that we can continue to fight as hard as possible to save many more animals from being butchered for their pelts.

Your gift will enable us to shine the public light of scrutiny on designers and companies that buy and sell fur, including Giorgio Armani, who is using rabbit fur in his new designs. We must push Armani to join Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne Inc., Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, J.Crew, and many other designers and companies that we have compelled to stop killing animals for fur.

Please make as generous an online donation as you possibly can to PETA today to help get fur—and the suffering it causes—off people’s backs and store racks. Thank you for all that you do to help animals and to help us stop cruelty.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk

P.S. Now that PETA has persuaded Donna Karan and many other companies to get out of the fur business, we are putting the pressure on holdouts like Giorgio Armani. We won’t stop as long as any animals are still caged and killed for their skin. But we simply cannot continue this fight without committed supporters like you who will not sit by while animals suffer. Please make a tax-deductible donation today to help save lives.

I personally cannot give money to all the organizations that I would like – every time they ask and Peta asks me weekly. What I can do is spread some education and give my support and energy. And while Peta is an amazing organization – I feel a bit badgered to donate $ to them all the time. But persistence is the hallmark of a good charity organization and is why they ask. I did give them my email and I do support them. I get as much from WWF. I think that like so many we are getting “donor exhaustion” with the economy sliding down its muddy hill towards the next house that will be demolished.
I think that many of us want alternatives to action other than sending a check. Crafts and Art and donating things you do no longer need are a good way to go. Let me know if you have any others.

This last week was all about Australia and the horrific Fires – The Lynus Project and Food Pantries. I used to be so involved with Animal Rights and participated in Protests at Southwest Research and rescued animals with Man and Beast – Saved the Whales and still protest against the blanket use of pesticides on a neighborhood level hopefully saving some bees.

When I had my first child I started getting involved with children’s organizations and Feed the Children, education and relief for families in need and now I find that I am full circle back into animal rights. So I split the difference figuring that one thing will lead to another. Make the world better for all living things and the world will get better. If we eat meat I try to buy free-range and organic. I prefer fish and chicken and the sacred Turkey. We save money not eating or buying meat though no one in my family would touch Soy with a ten foot fishing pole.
I do have Fur – Vintage fur that I feel to throw away would be a double waste. I keep them in a cedar chest to show the kids and have a picture of the animal with them. It’s my own little Natural History museum. I have animal skulls from walks and Antique shows too.

I do not wear a Fur coat. I can see the attraction they are very warm. If I were in Finland and wearing one of my Reindeer that died I could relate to that.
There is fur on some of our families Native American magical tools – passed down through generations with the story of how the animal was killed or died. The honoring of the animals spirit and the presence of the animal held sacred in rituals. I grew up with my grandmother saying “never wear mink – their meat is not eaten and it stinks, never kill an animal for fashion”. I love the feel of wolf and bear and otter. I would not want to think they were kept in cages for a human’s vanity. I would much rather think of them with their families running free and safe (at least from humans) There are many people who believe it is the natural order for humans to kill animals and wear them as trophies and if you kill it in the wild skin it and fashion it into something to wear for you or yours well….we can talk. If you are going to a store and picking one up to make yourself feel snappy then you are making a choice that may not have the best “vibrational energy” attached to it and surely Karma will come calling.
We have too many factory farms that pollute the land and feed livestock more food than some people in third world countries get to feed their families. Factory farming pollutes ground water and promotes an industry of cruelty.

As the leading predators on the planet we have a responsibility to conduct ourselves in a manner in which the Earth will have balance and not need to “make adjustments” in order for the Trees to breathe and the animals to sing. I see no other animals except for Red Ants – that so thoroughly destroy everything in their path. We are becoming Toxic – to the planet and ourselves. If you are a huge fan of fur I am not judging you. I think that would not be proper. I would ask you to think – to buy responsibly and buy a fur that is Vintage and have it remade or to just think long and hard about the choices you make and why you make them. I myself am trying this year to make better choices and to share that we do have a choice and a voice and that if we all were to re-think what is chic and delicious, we would all have a better chance in this world for survival.
Most people I know do not buy designer garb but I like this website none-the-less
I have definite thoughts as to what is “Luxury” http://www.ecorazzi.com/2009/01/26/celebrity-fashion-designer-jason-wu-plans-significant-fur-collection/ and it does not jive with the fashionistas looking to make a buck on the backs of suffering animals.
I love Ingrid (Pres. Of Peta) for making me think. But I want more education and less asking for money.
My next soapbox presentation will be in Powerpoint and about the overfishing the oceans and saving the Whales. See you next week.furdraged

Mixed hope…

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

     By Lily-Therese “Sacred Dove”

Oh Great Spirit, Our Father, whose breath of Life we experience in every direction of our great nations, hear us. Great Spirit whose voice we hear in silence and in the roar of thunder, listen to our prayers for World Peace. We come to you as the children of all great nations; in love, faith, trust, and unity.

Father Sky bring us warm rains of cleansing waters. Give us clouds with silver linings and the ability to cope during the wind’s of change and uncertainty. Mother Earth bring us an abundance of food to feed all the nations. Give us a bountiful harvest to nourish those that walk on two legs, those that walk on four legs, those that fly, swim and crawl. Grandfather Sun, shine brightly on all nations. Grandmother Moon light our way in times of darkness.

Creator of all great nations bless all of your creations, sky eagle and tiny ant, great bear and majestic mountains, winding rivers and powerful oceans, rain forest and desert sands, mighty trees and green valleys, fish in the seas and birds in the air, tricky coyote, and peaceful dove.

Bless the weak, the hungry, the lonely, and the homeless. Bless the poor and the rich, the mighty and the fearful. Give us strength to fight the powers of darkness. Give us hope in times of depression, faith in times of fear, and a joyful loving heart. Give us healing in spite of our negative emotions and love to replace all hate.

Great Spirit, Light of the World, bless all of the Great Nations and bring peace and harmony to our universe. Heal, bless, prosper, and unite All Nations through the power of Your unconditional Love.

So must it be.

I have mixed hope today as we begin this new Journey. I feel the joy and desire and the shedding of skin that so many in our nation are feeling. I get that Obama is a one man stimulus package and that so many are so liberated on this day of days. I still though feel just a little empty, mabey by the end of the day it will be better and I will get caught up in the waves of hope and speratus.

My little children are filled with the belief and the faith of change. My Son has been a huge Obama fan since day one, as was my teen. My youngest is all Native American and a Green Party witch like her mother. My husband – King of the proletariats and busker hater finds the whole Obama experience a bit over the top “Hollywood”, he is disgusted by the commercialization of a sacred transfer of power.  I think he is secretly happy and hopeful, but must remain gruff for the sake of the children and realistic expectaions. He did not diss the homemade apple cinnamon bundt cake.

I do not hide the fact of my dissapointment over once again no woman as Commander in Chief but I know our time will come and I celebrate the overwhelming Joy that people are feeling. It will be different, I am just not sure how much. The Masks are different and there is Historical Precedence. The world may indeed for a time see America as being or becoming a different animal. Time will tell. Ghandi said “You must be the change” You. No one man can save us, not even you Bono though I am willing for you to try.

I think this is my favorite blog right now and you might enjoy living the experience through her eyes. http://www.tayarijones.com/blog/

Tayari Jones a brilliant writer and a lovely woman inside and out. For her I am happy. For my children who still are filled with hope and delight and believe all things good are possible.

If the People lead the leaders will follow. Stop War Stop War now.

I watched the little girls at our Girl Scout Winter Dance tonight and I kept thinking — Why can’t all children be this happy and safe and carefree. It does not make sense all this War. I was thinking of all the wars and the children huddled in fear. Our children here in homeless shelters and sleeping on the streets or in their cars. It does not make any sense. War. Poverty, Suffering.

It is just evil, anytime you are killing children the answer should be no.

It is up to you. It’s up to me. All of us. Waking up.

We need to figure out how to stop wars in our lifetime. Mabey a giant dance party? Robots? Zomies? Communal Mind to stop letting corporations rule our world? Aliens? There has to be an answer…It is a war not just between countries but for the hearts and minds and souls of human kind. Even our very future of the species.

Let me know if you come up with anything.

What year is it really…

Again, inspired by a PBS show – about the Wise men from the tale of the Magi – I was wondering  just what year it is really. For some of my people – the Cherokee for instance – it is 2009 on Thursday because our treaty with the occupying government says so. Who are we to argue – give us our government cheese, I mean casinos.

The ownership of time like the ownership of land belonged to all the people and time was counted in our children’s steps and laughter. The seasons and the harvests kept the time. The music and the rhythms of life were very simple. For the Celts and my German ancestors same thing – whole different calendar than either of the Julian or Gregorian calendars with their own rituals and symbols and battles between bureaucratic errand boys. Then there are the Druids – Merlin would know I am sure of it.  Witches have their own ideas –Nature is the keeper of the calendar. So even if I embrace the spirit of Jesus – the calendar has still been jacked around by people seeking to serve their own purposes most of it having to do with taxes and money and as usual the poor. Ja ma.

China has its own thing going on Happy New Year for our comrades comes on January 26th ( year of the Ox -Brown Earth Cow) their calendar was  created by Emperor Huangdi in the year 2637 B.C.E, so it is the 4706th Chinese year. People in Africa and in the Amazon and India all have their own take on how to measure the passage of time and Mungo Man of Australia dates back some 40,000 years. (The Mungo Lady story would make a fabulous story if one of you writers is looking for something mythic and cool). The various religions also have their take on what year it is – cannot even imagine what the higher levels of Sciencetology and Pana Wave laboratories thinks and I will wager that in the none-to-distant future someone will go messing with the whole counting of the years again, Orwellian Style.  The atheists I am sure have a thought or two on this as well. The Illuminati  runs the whole thing anyway (so let them think) but truly I love that in the end it will be Nature who says what is what and she keeps time in her own way. Control her you may try, woo her and trick her and put her off.  Better hope you have a space ship…so then…What year will it be? Will the Aliens change things again?

I asked my kids what year it is going to be and they say it is 2009 and pushed to explain it more they said it was really year one million and that all time started with the Jurassic period and Pokémon ships.  Then some dancing broke out and someone got to wild and hit the other one with their knee – crying and madness. It is stop the madness year and calm down thank you very much sorry to bring it up  (to much chocolate milk and pizza lately) . We’ve got some work to do in the next few days –will make some charts and graphs and some dioramas perhaps. Puppet shows with dinos. Good times.

Of course there are always these scary thoughts ….one for you HF – this movie terrified me as a child beyond reason because Satanists were just a sect of Christianity, real witches do not believe in a Satan. That Myth belongs to the sons of Abraham and they are running most of the world.

Islamic Force Time Zone…

Its like they knew what is coming. I suppose it is pretty obvious to people who study World History and The Tides of War.
Incuding War on the Planet.

I miss the days of Main Stream Politically Meanigful music – I do not think songs about “hooking up” in bars and leading the gangsta Hollywood lifestyle
are going to live for very long.
But who knows – music is such a subjective thing. Like the sense of smell – certain sents, certain smells can take us back instantly to our childhood and times of
great rememberance.
I imagine though that those Universally themed sense memories – cut grass, cookies baking, Holiday music and the things that made us dance or cry
will be the things that last a hundred years.
U2 is still plugging away but I really could not think of anyone else. Oldest daughter informs me we are now going to listen to some Keane – ColdPlay and some Elton John and the Gorillaz and DBSK.

Obey me and live…

Oh now I can not stop thinking about this – thanks alot MD… I have always wanted to do the remake of this movie. It would just rock so big. Now it can be done with so much more content and a whole webpage for World Control. I love the whole tying programs (Hero’s, TrueBlood, Harry Potter) to the net – books, movies, TV, Radio, phones….its everywhere. You will not be able to unplug at some point soon.
It occurs to me at some point we won’t even see the President himself just his virtual representation on the video feeds. What more could Robot overlords want? This stuff just writes itself.
The trilogy of books (DF Jones author and out of print the lot of them) are amazing. My favorite being Colossus and the Crab oh they are just so worth finding if you can. I hear Ron Howard optioned the rights awhile ago…we’ll see.

Infinity theory

I always heard it was twelve monkeys then a hundred monkeys but then it became an ifinite army of monkeys….
This parable of the Monkeys and their creativity goes back years – I have found French references to this theory dating back to:
Borel, 1913
3, 1913, pp.189-196.

The whole Monkey thing still gets me – the theory that if you put an infinite number of monkeys into a space with infinite numbers of typewriters for an infinite amount of time and that they would come up with Shakespeare’s collected works is often attributed to Thomas Huxley, a 19th-century disciple of Charles Darwin— and supported in an essay by William Dembski
“Let me put it this way. Huxley’s example presupposes an
Intelligence familiar with the works of Shakespeare. At the
same time Huxley wants to demonstrate that random processes,
the typing of monkeys, can account for the works of
Shakespeare. Thus Huxley’s example is supposed to show that
the works of Shakespeare can be accounted for apart from the
person of Shakespeare. Huxley wants it both ways. An
intelligence must be on hand to know when the monkeys have
typed Hamlet, and yet Hamlet is to stand in need of no
author. This is known as having your cake and eating
it. Polite society frowns on such obvious bad taste.”

The theory starts now to define even the existence of a “communal consciousness” or God. The theory in its onion like layers begs to be taken further into debate as to the very intention of why it would be necessary to even have monkeys reproduce Shakespeare. What starts out as a little evolutionary joke becomes almost sinister in its theory.

No proof of this literary mathematical theorem exists before Huxley – it seems to reach back into time but must coincide with the invention of the Typewriter. Were there typewriters in Huxley’s time (4 May 1825 – 29 June 1895)? Yes the Mass marketed Typewriter was invented by E. Remington & Sons who moved from Ilion, NY from 1874-1878 to right here in Wisconsin to mass produce their diabolical creation (there were writing machines before this time but not available for purchase). There was a patent fight with Edison but that is a different story. There has been access to Monkeys going back to the Romans so clues lie with the Typewriter – now the story takes on a technological overtone . No typewriters = no infinite theory. Technology=Infinity. We are getting dangerously close to Robot Typewriter Overlords now.

There are the theoretical computations of the Monkey Shakespeare question – Nick Hoggard, a British computer programmer living in Sweden, decided to put the theory to the test.
Hoggard designed “The Monkey Shakespeare Simulator,” (which can no longer be found online) to find out how many lines of Shakespeare a group of hypothetical simians could come up with if given a limitless amount of time.
“I got the idea from the SETI@home software, which examines radio waves for signs of extraterrestrial life,” Hoggard says. “I thought I would apply the same idea to examine random rubbish that monkeys type for signs of Shakespeare.”
Rubbish indeed it is my feeling that his site was taken down by the government – something very fishy about monkey simulators – army applications no doubt with monkeys as warriors with guns, or poetic mind powers. Very Planet of the Apes.

But there is a lighter side to all this.

Comedian Bob Newhart had a stand-up routine in which a lab technician monitoring an “infinitely many monkeys” experiment discovered that one of the monkeys has typed something of interest. A typical punch line would be: “Hey, Harry! This one looks a little famous: ‘To be or not to be — that is thegrrdnm zsplkt.
The very concept of infinity is as mind boggling as the concept of zero. I truly believe there can be no zero. It is impossible for nothing to exist in a space – there is always something, even the thought of something if indeed “thoughts” have energy – you are then thinking of something and zero again cannot exist. Can there be an infinite number of things? It is the infinite improbability drive in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that saves Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect from certain death by asphyxiation in deep space after being thrown out of the Vogon ship; the improbable odds against being rescued being two raised to the power of the Islington (London) flat phone number where Arthur had met Tricia McMillan, aka Trillian, who is aboard the Heart of Gold with Zaphod Beeblebrox. Incidentally, Adams explained in the annotated volume of the original radio scripts that it was the eviction of Arthur and Ford out the space lock of the Vogon ship that led to his own “invention” of the Infinite Improbability Drive. Adams realized that he had worked the story into a dead end, thinking in frustration that the only solutions would be “infinitely improbable.” In a flash of insight and what Adams called “mental jujitsu”, the Infinite Improbability Drive was born.
In the third book, the Infinite Improbability Drive is discovered to be the Golden Bail of Prosperity in the Wikkit Gate. It is stolen by the white Krikkit robots, however, it was returned and the Heart of Gold returned to operational status.
An earlier attempt at using the improbability drive, Starship Titanic, was also mentioned. In theory, the infinite improbability drive would make it infinitely improbable that anything would go wrong. It was not successful, however, ending in a “Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure.” This was because, in these earlier times when the nature of improbability was less well understood, it was not appreciated that any event that is infinitely improbable will, by definition, “occur almost immediately.”

I do not believe that Massive Existence Failure could ever happen. I also think that it is time to update the Monkey theorem to modern times.
Only one Genetically Cloned Altered Monkey on one computer could create the works of Shakespeare. Where is Shakespeare buried again? And our monkey….his name is William of course.
GCAM + technology = infinity
The future is ours…
