Environmental factors may trigger type 2 Diabetes

I have been wondering a lot about Diabetes since being diagnosed two weeks ago with type 2. Meat – Fungus – being too fat, genetic predisposition American Indians are very prone to type 2. What could be the cause?

A new analysis of government data is the first to link low-level arsenic exposure, possibly from drinking water, with Type 2 diabetes, researchers say.  read the story here :

True History if the Press wakes UP…

And carries some news about the Green Party. There are more than just the two parties and Americans have many many choices.

Some Green Party info –

You know what…if the Dems had picked a woman to run this would be the most rocken election of our time.

To bad Obama played it “safe” and went with the typical  “old white haired guy” choice.

Sarah Palin is Wonder Woman!!! Wait a second!

Okay tell me I didn’t call this a few days ago….. She looks the part anyway, though I think that Wonder Woman would stay single and not elope with her High School sweetheart – her coming from an island of Amazons and all… hmmm….

A watched Pot never boils.

Seems to be true – I was thinking of this phrase while writing up some Global Warming research for an upcoming Green Party event we are having.  I googled the phrase and found this:

From a Forbes.com 200 article

A Watched Pot Never Boils
Fred Alan Wolf, 11.27.00

Ever wonder how lucky or unlucky you are? Or do you think that whatever success or failure you’ve had had nothing to do with luck? Well, if the quantum world has anything to do with it, there is a way to beat Lady Luck at her own game. All you need to do is look at the world vigilantly and carefully.

Quantum physics is the theory of the behavior of matter and energy, particularly at the level of atoms and subatomic particles. It is nearly impossible to imagine the strange behavior of matter at this level. An electron in an atom, for example, performs a trick much like the crew on Star Trek when it “beams” from one energy level to another without going in between. But if we aren’t watching it jump, we have no control as to when it will happen.

But suppose we do watch? Well, if current experiments in quantum physics are relevant to our everyday experiences, we will actually be able to alter the matter—and thereby the crapshoot of life. But there is a catch to all this: To do it, you need to begin to see things quantum mechanically.

Take the old proverb, “A watched pot never boils.” Now imagine a tiny, quantum-size “pot of water” being heated on a really tiny stove. We all know pots of water boil, given a few minutes or so. You would certainly think the watched quantum pot would also boil. It turns out, however, that if you vigilantly watch the pot, it will never boil. In fact, all vigilantly watched “quantum pots” never boil, even if they are heated forever. The only requirement for this to happen is that observers must have the intent to see the object in its initial state. This intent is determined by the frequency of their observations. The observers must look repeatedly in very short time intervals to find the object in the same state. Suppose physicists don’t watch vigilantly, or suppose they do, but with the intent of seeing the quantum pot boil naturally. Then what? If the physicists look intermittently, expecting it to boil eventually, the pot will follow its natural course and will boil. Infrequent observations have little effect on the result. Or if the physicists wish, they may vigilantly observe the object along its natural evolution and will observe the same result. In other words, a watched pot boils if you intend it to.

Finally, there is another bizarre aspect to all this. What if you want the watched pot to do something weird? If your intent to observe that occurrence is vigilant enough, the object actually will follow the strange path. Hence a watched pot boils on a cake of ice, if you intend it to.

Here I need to point out that “intent” and “intentions” are not the same thing. By “intent,” I am referring to a person’s active observation. To make what you desire come true you need to pursue your vision vigorously, not passively dream about it and hope it will come true. If this “watched-pot” theory turns out to be correct at the human level, then our desires and accompanying actions are what actually govern our daily lives. Luck has nothing to do with it.

—— Congrats to the GOP for their first woman Nominee for VP. Great choice. I personally think she is great and so used the whole coming Russian threat over land in our newly expanding (thanks to global warming) Northern territories, not to mention she is an expert on getting the trash picked up and knows all about the sinister super power that is Canada. Mom of 5 and working at that congrats. I was happy a woman gets to throw down in all this testosterone.  Give the Polar Bears a break though Sarah and not sure how the Natives feel yet. And I hear she does not believe that Global warmng is man-made … We’ll see.

Nation of Whiners

Yes I believe I fit into this description by former Sen. Phil Gramm, R-Texas, economic adviser to McCain. I have used my internet diary so far to moan and bitch about more than a few things and I am not alone in this. Lots of mom’s have “bitch blogs” and frankly we have alot to bitch about. My gratitude journal is not read by random robot spiders and other dear mommies though sometimes the magic and laws of attraction spill over onto the computer and happy bubbly thoughts spring forth. I think I will keep the Gratitude and Crafts separate but equal.  It’s really semantics, one mans whiny is anothers bitchy and anothers “tell it like it is”.   That being said – I was reminded by a witch friend and a true “feminist” that we do not want to be above men or thought better than men. Yes yes I know – I do want it truly equal  I believe that it is possible and will happen in my lifetime. So here is what I am reading – between my bitching and whinning.

I liked this review so picked it up –

“This latest offering from best-selling author Wolf, The Beauty Myth, is a harbinger of an age that may finally see the patriarchal realm of political discourse usurped. Here is Wolf’s compellingly and cogently argued political argument for civil rights, not women’s rights. She contributes this call to action to a canon that from Plato and Aristotle to Hobbes and Locke and forward, with a few exceptions (e.g., Hannah Arendt), has been largely populated by men. Wolf’s work is actually closer to the agitated, passionate polemics of Emma Goldman than the ponderous, philosophical musings of Arendt. Readers will appreciate her energy and urgency as she warns we are living through a dangerous “fascist shift” brought about by the Bush administration. Her chapters outline the “Ten Steps to Fascism” citing historical corollaries (as well as the pigs in Orwell’s Animal Farm), with headings like “Invoke an External and Internal Threat,” “Establish Secret Prisons,” and “Target Key Individuals.” In other words, fascism can exist without dictatorship. Her book’s publication through a small press in Vermont that is committed to “the politics and practice of sustainable living” rather than through a large trade house is itself a political act. Highly recommended for all collections.”

Also reading – Vampires of Hollywood by Adrienne Barbeau and Michael Scott. Loved Adrienne as a teenager and almost all Irish writers and Vampires so fluff it is. My huge pile of summer reading is still collecting dust in the corner as I have mostly watched old movies on TCM and endless the SciFi channel – anything Star Trek and Dr. Who and the BBC America for Dr. Who Torchwood and Grahm Norton. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/grahamnortonshow/) Indeed I am ready for America to go back to the Brits. We Cherokees always sided with the English in the past and mabey it’s time for them to come back.

Oh look Naomi Wolf has a video on you tube

Do you hear the drumming?

Teen age wisdom

My teenager shared this with me after I showed her the Paris Hilton ad on Brans site. Her girlfriends are here and it is slumber party land High School style. They all think Obama is going to win and have never even heard of the Green Party – my daughter of course has but likes to think its a hippie phase of mommys.

Both illustrations above show the working class woman at her best. This is where history sees us. Barefoot and Pregnant or on the assembly lines pulling the fat out of the fryer in times of war.

Last nights DNC speech by Hillary Clinton – quoting Harriet Tubman saying ” no matter what happens, keep going. ” was not lost on the women in my family. I am still just furious that Hillary – a seasoned Senator and life long advicate for Universal Healthcare – a woman of a certain age and devoted mother was passed over for promotion in order to give the job – in his dreams – to a less experienced younger much less qualified man. This irritates me no end. The fact that Edwards would have not taken Iowa if his scandel had broke during the prims and that Hillary would have – there securing the nomination has me spitting nails. Who is running this railroad and why on earth are the Kennedy’s still so powerful. I as a Green Party member would have crossed party lines and voted for Hillary. I will still get to vote for a woman, Cynthia McKinney . I will still get to escort my little girls to the voting booth and show them that we can try for equality and not to give up hope. But we as a country will hear very little about the Green Party’s candidate or about any other Ind. Candidate as our country is being ruled by a Monarchy of GOP power elite – Industrialists who skim off the top of every segment of government and social programs.

I get you though Hillary. We are still slaves, us American women. History in the making? Business as usual.

America it seems hates women and wants us to dissapear – getting thinner and thinner. Used for fodder to grease the machinery and sell magazines and refrigerators. Glamazons or Lolitaish whores there is not room  for women who will not pander to the corporations or stand up to the Sexist and Unequal policies and programs of the Old School Bones Boys club. Women who will not put up with this consumerist corporate slavery. We need a woman Marx or Lenin or Mao or Rousseau. Where is our generations Rachel Carson or Margaret Thatcher – Mother Jones. Hillary was to be all this and more to us. Yes we have Women Astronauts http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4770249. Yes there is a woman speaker of the house and one woman Supreme court judge and a woman Secretary of State. We have come along way baby – they need us more than ever to buy their products and oil. They need us to continue to breed the next generations of consumers. They do not however need us to have a voice – a voice that would change the country and our world forever. As far as I am concerned Hillary I am tired of going on – and running. It is time to stop and stand our ground and take back what is rightfully ours. The time for peaceful resignation is over – passive resistance is from another time. It is time to fight. We need Wonder Woman.
